We are already in 2023, but today we will talk about 2022.
We will look at the world of e-commerce and which niches were the most popular and profitable. Plus a bonus point from me: Which niches will be in the top 5 in 2023? As we know, 2022 was one of the strong years for online businesses (and more recently those in the e-commerce and dropshipping spheres). I’m going to stop wasting your time and start listing the top favorites of the past year.
1. Kitchen and cooking
Yes, you read that right. This is one of the top e-commerce niches since the COVID-19 pandemic hit us in 2020.
As consumers were locked in their homes for a long time, cooking and baking became a way of life for some of them. The trend continued and kitchen supplies remained popular in 2022. Brands like ‘Food Huggers’: an eco-friendly product container company, are part of this e-commerce niche.
2. Lighting and home decor
Yes, decor and lighting are important things. Everyone wants to make their home look more alive. As a result, this niche has always been popular in e-commerce. There are many products on the market with different aesthetics, so consumers can choose exactly what they want and like – whether it’s timeless and chic or bold and minimalist.
3. Home gym equipment
Many gyms and fitness centers have closed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic – some temporarily, some permanently (Yes, thanks to COVID-19, a niche has exploded).
People had nowhere to exercise, but thanks to e-commerce, people stayed active in their homes.
And in 2022, this trend has intensified and people are increasingly looking for ways to stay active even with gyms already open. No matter what users need: dumbbells, exercise bikes, or treadmills, this niche holds its ground and doesn’t look like it’s going to budge.
4. Home office equipment
It was a leading niche in 2020 when the pandemic hit and many people switched to Home Office. This increased the demand for such equipment because people wanted to make their new workplace cozy and practical. Still, 4th place in 2022 is not bad at all (let’s not forget these are my views). But I won’t say anything more. Do a little research to find out what kind of market it is.
5. Pet supplies/supplements
Pet products have always been popular items in e-commerce. As more and more people adopt or buy pets. During the pandemic, there was such a boom and this increased the demand for pet goods, and this trend continued into 2022. One example of a successful online store in this niche since 2020 is Nutripaw.
Today’s rankings are over. You can see and judge for yourself how profitable e-commerce can be. As with every passing year, this is getting stronger and many businesses prefer to start selling online in order not to fall behind and be crushed by the competition.
And as promised, I will offer you several niches that, in my opinion, will be in the top 5 in 2023!
Here they are:
1. Pets and pet products/services
2. Health and Wellness products
3. Home/Office Equipment
4. Online courses
5. Service Subscriptions
